How do I become a Pharmacist
in Ontario?


Within the province of Ontario, the Ontario College of Pharmacists is the legal body which sets entry-to-practice standards for the profession of pharmacy as well as regulating the practice of pharmacy once candidates achieve licensure.

Please note, you must be licensed by the Ontario College of Pharmacists in order to use the title "pharmacist" and practice as a pharmacist in Ontario.

This Interactive Fact Sheet will take you through the three main areas that you must complete before you can begin practice as a pharmacist in Ontario.  On the left side of your screen, there is a "General Information" button that will provide general information about education, workplace, language, testing and placement details. 

There is also a "Frequently Asked Questions" page. If you go to these pages while navigating the Interactive Fact Sheet, simply use the back button of your browser to return to your place. If at any time you need to start over, click the "Start Fact Sheet" button at the top left side of your screen.

To begin, we will start with educational requirements. After that, we will move on to experience/placement requirements and finally, examinations and registration requirements.
